Calabria Oak Aged Saint Macaire 2015
Saint Macaire is an obscure Bordeaux red wine variety that has all but disappeared in France. It is represented in Australia by some planting's in the Riverina where Westend Estate is using it to make the medal winning Calabria Private Bin Saint Macaire.
Winemaker Notes
Calabria Saint Macaire is an intense deep red colour with a purple hue. It displays a fragrant nose of violets, rose petals and spice that are unique attributes of Saint Macaire. The full bodied palate exhibiting ripe fruit is spicy with well integrated vanillin oak characters. The palate is soft with a warm finish of great length with fine grained tannins. Excellent to drink now, this wine will age well in the medium to long term.
