Ernest Schuetz Epica Cabernet Shiraz 2014

  • $65.00*

The flagship wine of the Ernest Schuetz range, Epica, is made by the ancient Amarone method of partially air drying the grapes on racks. This technique concentrates the grapes and intensifies the fruit flavours, ultimately achieving multiple layers of complexities. A superb wine style with great individuality and always made with an extremely limited production of only 900 bottles. Wow, Wow, Wow!
Winemaker Notes

The 2014 Epica is made with 55% Cabernet, 40% Shiraz and 5% Merlot, aged in new French oak for 30 months.

Deep dark in colour with big powerful concentration of ripe briary fruit , typical Amarone bitter sweet dark chocolate, piped tobacco and smoky spiced oak are both evident on the nose and palate. This is a very dense and textured wine with lingering flavours of star anise, sweet liquorice and menthol. Will benefit from extended cellaring for up to 15+ years.
